Private Lessons $50 per hour
Travel Time $20 per hour
I have resisted private lessons because it is easier to learn techniques when you can observe others executing and receiving the techniques. I have taught many classes, however, with only one student and they seem to progress quickly anyways. Fees will be paid up front. If I have to travel, I will ask to have the first hour and full travel fee ahead of time and the remainder upon arrival (before practicing). Please allow a minimum of one week notice to plan around class schedules and appointments. I recommend beginners start with Iwama Style to get a solid foundation of basics before moving into complicated Nishio Style movements and executions. Nishio Sensei I think would also recommend this. Aikido is much more complex than Karate or Tae Kwon Do, so don't expect to become a "master" in a day or two. Practice normally requires months of classes to become proficient. I can focus on one technique per class with variations of attacks to keep learning interesting. If your intent is to "test" the Aikido I teach against another martial art, contact somebody else. I'm not interested in beating someone up or allowing someone to beat up on me. You might not find me to be a very nice person in a fight. My intent is to spread high quality Aikido which ends the fight quickly, effectively and decisively.
